We remember her
Sara celebrated her Bat Mitzvah on
21 October 2023
From the proud mother of one of our Bat Mitzvah Twins
I have spent my days writing posts and deleting them because words matter and I wanted to say something that would bring more good than bad into the world. Yesterday my daughter became a women in Judaism (Bat Mitzvah). She spoke about the portion of Noah (a time when the world was destroyed because people we so devoid of morals). It was also a story of hope because the world was saved and the #rainbow in our sky reminds us of this and second chances. As part of the #yadvashemuk project she was “twinned” with a schoolgirl Sara from Lithuania who never got the chance to be Bat Mitzvah’d. She was shot aged 11 for being Jewish during the #Holocaust. We remember her. Just as we did yesterday in my Shul we pray for peace and for people to remember that they always have a choice. They can spread hate through a war of propaganda or they can have every ounce of their passion to give to charity, find ways to connect and hold their humanity close.
