It has made me appreciate just how lucky I was to be Bar Mitzvah even though it was during lockdown in a worldwide pandemic. I would recommend this project to any Bar Mitzvah Boy wishing to make the experience extra special

I am so glad I took part in the Bar Mitzvah Twinning Project as it made my Bar Mitzvah even more special and meaningful. I spent several hours researching the family of Jakob Tondowski and I even managed to find some relatives of his in the USA!

Tondowski was the surname of my great grandparents Morice & Cila and my Bubba Hetty’s maiden name. I’m not sure whether there was any connection between Jakob and my own family, as the name Tondowski was not uncommon in Poland, however the fact that I could talk about Jakob and find out about his family and where he came from meant, that he will never be forgotten about and  his memory is kept alive.

Jordan celebrated his Bar Mitzvah on 29 August 2020. He had a zoom with family and friends from London and all around the world on Thursday 27 August 2020. He was lucky enough to lein in Shul on Shabbat morning 29 August 2020.

with Josua Boesenach

Joshua twinned with Josua Boesenach who was born in June 1931. He was deported age 12 to Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber. He never got to celebrate his Bar Mitzvah. “As I celebrate my Bar Mitzvah he will be on my mind."

I had my Bat Mitzvah in July 2019. For my Bat Mitzvah, I twinned with Yad Vashem UK Foundation. They twinned me with a girl named Alice Chana Grunwald, a surname that my family also used. Sadly, Alice Chana did not survive to celebrate her Bat Mitzvah, as she perished at Auschwitz.
