Yad Vashem UK Twinning Participants
Visit Holocaust Survivor Centre
25 October 2023
Last Wednesday a group of Yad Vashem UK ‘twins’ visited the Holocaust Survivor Centre in Golders Green to learn more about the heroism and suffering of a band of remarkable people. The young people had been part of our Bar and Bat Mitzvah Twinning Programme and had shared their celebration with a young victim of the Holocaust who was murdered and had no Bar Mitzvah.
One student told us that it was
a chance in a lifetime to hear the epic life stories of these courageous me and women.

It was a real honor to visit the holocaust survivor centre yesterday. It was such an inspiring experience. It gave me a real view of what the people i met have experienced instead of reading or watching it. I had the good fortune to ask questions and had been given the answers to questions I’ve always wanted to ask. I’m a young boy who is very interested in this topic and i think all kids my age should be. It made me feel inspired from the stories and how they found the strength and motivation to get through their experiences. I am grateful that i got to talk to them and listen to their stories and it was so emotional to hear everything they experienced. Thank you very much for having me, i will never forget it. It’s something many people my age must experience and it is very important to listen and understand their stories so we don’t forget.
The survivors were delighted to hear about the twinning experience of their visitors and how it had kindled a determination for the students to find out as much as they could about the Holocaust.
