During my Bar Mitzvah, I felt like I was not only celebrating my own coming of age but also carrying forward the legacy of a young boy who was denied this opportunity

Being twinned with a Holocaust victim for my Bar Mitzvah was a deeply meaningful experience for me. Learning about the life and struggles of someone who didn’t get the chance to celebrate their own Bar Mitzvah made me feel a strong connection to our shared heritage. It reminded me of the importance of remembering and honouring those who were lost.
This experience has taught me about resilience, the value of family and community, and the importance of standing against hatred. It has inspired me to be more mindful and to cherish the freedoms and opportunities I have today.
