I am Ella Taub, and I wanted to be twinned with a child that passed during the Holocaust.
My granny Les should have been at my Bat Mitzvah to celebrate with us. She was so involved in my Bat Mitzvah preparations. Just 2 months ago, she suddenly fell ill and passed away. Granny Les loved the outdoors, especially long walks on the beach and going on long hikes through mountains and on difficult trails, whatever the weather! She was so enthusiastic while spending time with all her grandchildren, we all miss her so much, but we know she is looking down on us, and all our family so proudly.
For my Bat Mitzvah, I have was twinned with Esther Taub, an 11-year-old who tragically died in the Holocaust. I am so proud to be twinned with Esther, as a reminder that the Jewish people should always continue to support each other and to carry our Jewish identity onwards. We as Jewish people don’t believe in coincidences but rather true signs from Hashem. Esther Taub, my Bat Mitzvah twin’s mother was a Horowitz, which is the same surname as my granny Les. What are the chances of my Bat Mitzvah twin having the same surname as me and her mum as my granny without Yad Vashem knowing? Granny Les is certainly here today.
The twinning process brought so much joy to me and my family, especially the connection with my granny. Thank you
